Special Honor for Centennial

On Wednesday, February 24th, Chief Weatherford of the United States Army Reserves came to Centennial School to present a flag to her nephew Cameron, a second grader in Mrs. Jernigan’s class.  Chief Weatherford has recently returned to her home in Mississippi after serving for nine months in Kuwait.  While stationed in Kuwait, she had two flags flown in honor of both Centennial School as well as Emily G. Johns School.

Chief Weatherford was visiting family in Plano last week and agreed to come to Centennial for a special assembly.  Our students greeted Chief Weatherford with several patriotic songs, including “The Star-Spangled Banner.” After the flag was presented, the students had a few minutes to ask questions.

The students and staff at Centennial School are very proud of this honor and would like to thank Chief Weatherford for recognizing Centennial School while serving our great country.  The flag and accompanying certificate will be displayed proudly in the office.
